Medical Necessity
Medical necessity is the question underneath every utilization review decision. This course is where it starts and it sets up the four courses that follow: the Two-Midnight Rule sets the time frame for answering the question, observation status is the alternative when the answer isn't yet clear, InterQual and MCG are the tools for testing it, and a case review is where you set out your answer for someone else to act on.
